Mrs. Grand – The story

The below story has been created by Stockholm University Art Director Ingvar Sjöberg as a foundation for a demonstrator for SALIG++. The demonstrator is planned to be included in the Digital Art Center at Stockholm University.

THE STORY OF MRS GRAND
Mrs. Grand is a lively 75 year old. She lives alone in her apartment in the centre of town. She likes to keep up to date in current affairs and stays in touch with friends and colleagues through Skype and on-line social media.

Mrs Grand has led an active life and has travelled extensively. For many years she and her husband lived in Africa where she worked as a high school teacher.

THE FAMILY
Her son Peter leads a busy life with his wife Susanna and their three children Sophie, Leo and Lily. Their visits to Mrs Grand can be infrequent.

FINDING A SOLUTION
Mrs Grand has difficulties getting out due to poor health. Her condition requires frequent contact with her doctor, Mr Henley. Mrs Grand and Peter have looked over her home to facilitate her contact with medical staff, family and friends.

AN INTERACTIVE SECURITY PACKAGE
To facilitate contact with Dr Henley and her family and  for additional security at home, Mrs Grand and Peter contact the local council who provides an interactive full service security package- SALIG ++

MRS GRAND WORRIES ABOUT HER PRIVACY
Mrs Grand and Peter look into a new and innovative service that allows her doctor, close relatives and neighbours to have access to some her of personal data such as her current health status and daily activities. By performing certain hand gestures she can choose to share her medical data with only Doctor Henley and Peter.

FAMILY TIME
Peter and her grand children use a mobile app with which Mrs Grand can take part in their activities via her 3D Smart TV. The new technology in her home makes interaction with the family a big part of her life and gives her days a silver lining.
